TOM WILSON
Tom Wilson was part of
the first graduating class of Madison-Grant High School in 1970. Tom was a standout athlete at Madison-Grant,
participating in baseball, basketball, football and track, earning 12 varsity
letters. He set the shot put record in
track, and held it for several years.
Tom was a 4-year letter
winner in track at Ball State University, where he completed his bachelor’s
degree in education. After graduating
from Ball State in 1974, Tom was hired at Eastbrook, where he served for 42
years as a health and PE teacher. During
his time at Eastbrook, Tom was probably most well-known for being an
outstanding coach in several sports. Tom
was an assistant football coach from 1986-2015, serving as Defensive
Coordinator from 1989-2015. Tom was part
of 2 State Runner-up teams, 2 Semi-State Championships, 4 Regional
Championships, 12 Sectional Championships, and 18 Conference
Championships. Tom was also selected as
Defensive Coordinator in the North-South Indiana All-Star Game.
Tom coached girl’s
basketball at Eastbrook from 1987 to 2001.
During this time, he won more than 150 games, 3 Conference
Championships, 5 Grant-4 Championships, and 2 Sectional Championships. Tom also coached softball at Eastbrook from
1990 to 2010, winning more than 300 games.
He led his teams to 5 Grant-4 Championships, 2 Conference Championships,
5 Sectional Championships, 1 Regional and 1 Semi-State Championship. This led to 1 Final Four appearance, prior to
class softball. Tom also coached in the
Indiana All-Star softball game.
Tom Wilson was an
outstanding motivator, and was known for getting the absolute most out of the
players and teams he coached. He touched
the lives of hundreds of Eastbrook athletes over the years, and was loved by
those he coached and those who coached with him.
Tom passed away on June
19, 2019.
