Plymouth Club Bombers

Plymouth Club Bombers PLYMOUTH CLUB BOMBERS From 1976-1985 no team was more dominant in Fast Pitch Softball in Indiana than the Plymouth Club Bombers.  During that period the Bombers won three state titles, 1978, 1979, and 1982.  They finished second 10 additional seasons and competed in the regional tournament at a high level. Playing between 80 and 100 games a season and sponsored by local businessman, and fellow Grant County Sports Hall of Fame inductee, Kerry Clevenger, the Bombers had players from not only Grant County but players from Muncie, Anderson, Kokomo, and other cities were apart of the success of the Bombers.  The Bombers were led by Managers, Rollin “Maggie” Lounsbury, Leon Zachary, and John Hoffman during this stretch.  The 1977 ASA state tournament was held at Matter Park and drew close to 7,000 fans a session.  Several Bombers players have been elected to the ASA softball hall of fame.   The Bombers are the first non-high school or college team to gain induction into the Grant County Sports Hall of Fame.
