Kay Bauer
OAK HILL HIGH SCHOOL

From 1967-1971, Kay attended Ball State University where she lettered in field hockey (4 years), volleyball (4 years), basketball (2 years), and softball (3 years) and officiated at badminton, basketball, gymnastics, and volleyball events. In 1971, Kay graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Math. In 1975, she earned her Master of Science degree in Physical Education from Indiana University.
In 1971, Kay was hired to teach physical education and health at Oak Hill Junior High School. Kay was the junior high Girls Athletic Association (GAA) sponsor and cheerleader sponsor. She started the junior high girls track program and coached track for 22 years (compiling a record of 178 wins 32 losses 1 tie). Kay also helped start the junior high girls basketball program. She coached the eighth grade girls basketball team for 17 years (compiling a record of 135 wins 80 losses) and the seventh grade girls basketball team for 10 years (compiling a record of 87 wins 25 losses).
From 1971-1974, Kay assisted Marie Kempher coaching Oak Hill High School's volleyball team, which won the 1974 IHSAA Sectional championship. In 1976, Kay was hired as varsity coach of the Oak Hill volleyball team. As head coach, Kay started the junior high and elementary volleyball programs. During her 24 year tenure as varsity volleyball coach, Kay won 451 matches and lost 231 matches (.661 winning percentage). Kay and her volleyball teams won one IHSAA Regional championship (1988), nine IHSAA Sectional championships (1981, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1992, 1993, 1996), eight MIC and TRC Conference championships (1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1985, 1986, 1995), and nine Grant County championships (1979, 1980, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1992, 1993, 1998). Kay also served four years as a member of the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association volleyball committee. She retired from coaching Oak Hill varsity volleyball in 1999.
Kay taught physical education and health (grades 7-10) at Oak Hill Junior-Senior High School from 1971 until she retired from teaching in 2005 (34 years). She currently resides in Lebanon, Indiana.
