Julie graduated from Marion HS in 1975
and Marion College (IWU) in 1989. She
played in the Indiana Girls State tournament in 1972, 73 & 74. Julie played on the 1st Marion HS
girls’ golf team in 1975. In the State
tournament, the team finished 5th and she finished 4th as
an individual. Julie was the 1st
female to play on the Men’s golf team at Marion College.

a young child, he developed some infections in his leg bones. It was quite serious. He recovered and through it all he began

The 1965 Marion Giant Basketball
team began a new era for Marion basketball teams. With Jack Colescott being named varsity coach
and Dick Persinger his assistant, hopes of change were high. Using Harold Curdy, one of Marion’s all-time
great players and Steve Ward as a foundation, Colescott built a team into
winners, through defense and playing hard for the entire game. The team was told that when players that
